This year most people have experienced at least one thing that has been ‘stolen’ from them due to COVID-19. The My Night Light team are no different and this is making us more determined than ever to make this Christmas one to remember!
It may seem slightly crazy to be talking about Christmas in October, but as we are all aware, 2020 is a year like no other, what December will look like is anyone’s guess! Your big family Christmas may not be happening this year, especially if you are spread out around the world, or even live in different states, so let’s get creative and make this festive season AMAZING!
Whatever you are feeling at the moment, your child is feeling too. They feel scared, vulnerable, uncertain of what the future holds, not knowing when they’ll go back to school or see their friends again. They also sense all of your anxiety. None of us have ever experienced anything like this before. Of course, your little one’s behaviour is going to change, and unfortunately it won’t be for the better. They may have more meltdowns or tantrums, they may get angry and fight you on everything, they may become really anxious or wake in the night with nightmares, or not be able to get to sleep at all. This is all normal.
Not everyone likes routines, some parents find them too structured, but personally, I’m a HUGE fan!
Occasionally I do find myself wishing that I was a fly by the seat of your pants kinda mum, but the idea of just winging it, tends to bring me out in hives!
Whilst change helps children to learn and experience new things, it can sometimes be stressful for them. Having a routine provides certainty and security and this is really important, especially in early childhood.
